Psychiatric Second Opinion in Arizona — An Independent Evaluation by Video
A psychiatric second opinion is for when something about your care does not add up: a diagnosis that never quite fit, a medication that has been adjusted for months without improvement, or a plan you were handed without explanation. Sigmon Psychiatric offers an independent second opinion by secure video to anyone in Arizona for $179 — the price of a standard initial evaluation, because that is exactly what you receive. When a second opinion makes sense
- You have been given more than one diagnosis by different providers and they conflict
- You have tried two or more medications for the same condition without a clear benefit
- You were diagnosed quickly, in a short visit, and want a careful look
- A diagnosis of bipolar disorder, ADHD, or borderline personality disorder was made or ruled out and you are unsure it was right
- You are about to start a long-term medication and want a second view first
- A family member's care feels stalled and you want an outside perspective (with their consent)
What the second opinion includes
The visit is a full 45–60 minute diagnostic evaluation with Angela Marton, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner licensed in Arizona. It covers your full history, current symptoms, every psychiatric medication you have taken and what happened on each, medical conditions and labs that can mimic psychiatric symptoms, and standardized rating scales where they help.
You leave with a written summary that states Angela's diagnostic impression, how it compares with your current diagnosis, and specific recommendations — including whether your current plan looks reasonable. The summary is written in plain language so you can share it with your current provider, and nothing is sent to anyone without your written consent.
Staying with your current provider, or not
A second opinion is not a transfer of care. Many Arizona patients take the summary back to the prescriber they already see, and that is a perfectly good outcome. If you would rather continue with Sigmon Psychiatric, follow-up medication management visits are $129, and records can be requested from your prior provider. The choice is yours and is never pushed at the visit.
What to send ahead
A list of current and past medications with doses and dates, prior diagnoses and who made them, recent lab results if you have them, and any prior testing reports. Records are helpful but not required; the evaluation stands on its own.
What a second opinion cannot do
It is not a formal neuropsychological or IQ assessment, it is not a legal or forensic opinion, and it does not override a treating provider's judgment. For questions about a specific procedure such as TMS, ketamine, or ECT, Angela will say what the evidence supports and refer you to a program that provides it.
Assessments and letters are outpatient services, not emergency care. If you or someone with you is in immediate danger, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988 or Arizona's statewide crisis line at 1-844-534-4673, both available 24 hours a day.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a psychiatric second opinion cost?
$179, the same as a standard initial evaluation, because that is what it is: a full 45–60 minute diagnostic evaluation by video with Angela Marton, PMHNP-BC. Follow-up visits, if you choose to continue care, are $129. Book at sigmonpsych.com/book.
Do I have to leave my current provider to get a second opinion?
No. Many patients bring the written summary back to their current prescriber. You can also transfer care to Sigmon Psychiatric if you prefer; either way, the choice is yours and nothing is sent to your current provider without your written consent.
What should I send before the visit?
A list of current and past psychiatric medications with doses and what happened on each, any prior diagnoses, and recent labs if you have them. Records from a prior prescriber are helpful but not required.
Will Angela change my medication at the second opinion visit?
Only if it is clinically appropriate and you want her to take over prescribing. The purpose of the visit is an independent assessment. If a change is recommended, it is explained in plain language in the written summary so you can decide with your current provider.
